The KESK , DISK , TMMOB and TTB started actions against the draft law of AKP for an education reform commonly known as "4+4+4".
Last month Prime Minister Erdogan said: "We want to grow up a religious generation". The draft law followed this statement. The labour organisations stress that the draft law has ideological aims, as well as increasing the privatisation of education. Thedraft law foresees an education system of 4 years of primary school, 4 years of secondary school and 4 years of high school before license education. The draft law decreases the age for profession-choosing, turns a high amount of primary school teachers into subcontracted labourers and makes the primary school education a paid education system.
The labour organisations announced a series of actions against the draft law. {divide}
Actions started on March 15 with the action of the teachers organised in Egitim-Sen , who stopped work and formed chains made of people in front of the schools in many cities and districts.
In Ankara, one of the biggest actions was made in front of the primary school Mimar Kemal, behind the banner "Let's defend our schools, children and future!"
In Eskisehir many fathers and mothers supported the action of the teachers, too. The chain of people was organised there with the slogans "Scientific education in mother tongue!"
In Istanbul, hundreds of people marched from Harbiye towards the Taksim Square and demanded "gratis, qualified education in mother tongue for all".
In Antioquia, the education labourers carried out their action despite being hindered by the police. They passed the police barricades twice, clashed with the police and gathered at the Ulus Square for people's right to access to education.
In Sivas, the teachers raised the same demands with an action at the Hukumet Square.
