The workers in Coca Cola in Istanbul have continued with their resistance by occupying their workplace on 20th of July. As an instrument of the working class struggle against the capital's attack, the occupation of workplaces is becoming widespread. Fist started by SEKA and Mersin dockyard workers, the occupation of workplaces are continuing with the Coca Cola and Gorsel Plastic workers.

The workers, including the Chair of Transportation-Union, Ali Riza Kucukosmanoglu, opened placards writing "Coca Cola is going to give account to the Workers" and stated that they are determined to continue with their occupation until their demand for acceptance of workers to return their work is met. While workers were waiting together with their spouses and children, the police made preparations to attack workers for the interests of bosses. Having carried gas bombs to the factory, the police threatened workers with attack unless if they do not leave the factory. The directors and solicitors of Transportation-Union have also supported the workers action of workplace occupation.

While the occupation continuing, the directors of Textile-Union and the activists of ESP have gave visit to the factory and supported the Coca Cola workers. A representative of the American Federation of Labour (AFL) also stated that they support the action and will give financial support. And the chair of DISK , Suleyman Celebi, has also supported the workers through a message.

Because of the workers resistance, the employer accepted to talk with the workers. But his suggestion "we will pay your compensation and you will leave" is refused by the workers and directors of Transportation-Union with following words: "We will not leave the workplace until we return to our work".

Hereafter, the police begin to attack workers with truncheons. The workers resisted to the police by holding each others' arms. The police detained 10 workers after the first attack but could not throw workers out of the workplace. The police attack is protested with slogans by people waiting outside the factory to support workers. 97 of those arrested, including the chair of Transportation-Union, Ali Riza Kucukosmanoglu, and director Recep Bulmus, are released a day after their detention. However, the police attack could not break the resistance of the Coca Cola workers.
