The dissolution faced by the USA in the Iraqi quagmire and the attempts, searching for political stability, which in every occasion -due to the Iraqi resistance- gave birth to a new crisis, have once more seen through debates on the constitution. Let alone the peace and stability, imperialism has even removed the opportunities for our people to live together. Tough discussions, postponements and dissolution have stamped their mark on the negotiations over the constitution which was previously planed to be approved in the Iraqi assembly on 15th of August.
The quest of the Iraq constitution, in parallel with the USA's adventure in Iraq, shows the imperialists' situation on the question of having political stability and putting a will to manage in Iraq. Current interim-constitution of Iraq was also prepared by the USA in April 2003 and was approved in June 2005 by the USA's puppet regime in Iraq short time after toppling the monuments of Saddam and victory celebrations over the downfall of Baghdad. But the Baghdad victory became a frustration. The Iraqi people with their resistance dissolved the constitution which was approved by the puppet government. Hereafter the USA tried to find a way out through an election game. It was planned for the government, which would appear as a result of the elections, to form a new constitution. The people of Iraq, however, respon-ded the election-comedy by not going to ballot boxes, 32% of participation and detonated bombs. They announced to the world that the trick of election has no legitimacy, the will and polling of the Iraqi people is on the side of the resistance. In the real life, the election results did not find equivalence concerning both upsetting legitimacy of the resistance and the USA's governing of Iraq.
Also now the process of forming constitution is also producing an impasse. The Kurds do not want to miss the opportunity that appeared on the way of forming a federation and do not back down from the federation right to be in the constitution. Shiites are insisting on the Islamic constitution which would give them a great initiative because of the strength of religious circles, and here try to open themselves a space in the face of the Kurds' demand for federation. Sunnis are not accepting all the two possibilities. The USA imperialists are living a situation of full impasse as they try to come out from this situation through word-games. They are trying to have conciliation between two sides; one of the proposed drafts contains provisions, which would result in new crises through different forces' different comments in practice, such as 'the Islam is the main source of the state, but this would not be in contradiction with democratic rights'. In fact, functioning of such a rule is not possible, but it could serve to an important purpose of the occupants, and that purpose is to weaken the legitimacy of the resistance.
Moreover, let alone the implementation of a new constitution and having a political stability in Iraq, there is still no drafts concluded on which both sides are agreed upon. However, it is not certain whether it would be approved or not when it will get ready, or let's say it is approved in the assembly, but then the response of the people in the referendum is not clear. That is to say that there will be the question of its de facto implementation after an illegitimate approval as it is happened in the election-comedy.
Imperialists are not able to find opportunities to compromise the contradictions, clashes and distrusts, which have deep historical roots, among the people of Iraq. They are not going to find it anyway. Because these same imperialists have tried to achieve hegemony by provoking strangles among the people in everyplace where they have tried to set their protectorate colonialist regime from Kosovo to Bosnia and etc. Today the USA is sowing what they have planted also in Iraq. Prior to the occupation of Iraq, when shouting claptraps of freedom and democracy, her plans were leaning on the differences and distrust created among other people by Saddam regime on the basis of Sunni Arab domination. This was the case also when they were announcing their victory by toppling down Saddam monuments and forming puppet governments. In every step of breaking the Iraqi people's resistance, the USA has always went for contradictions among the Kurds, Sunnis and Shiite Arabs. So it is very clear that the job of the USA is not very easy, because, on one side, it has to divide the resistance in order to form occupation and to provoke people against each other in order to divide the resistance, and, on the other side, it has to fix compromises among different forces in order to fix political stability.
However, another reality is the ongoing risk of strangles among the people under the conditions where imperialism's presence in Iraq still continues, and the recent constitution crisis might have affects to deepen this risk. The conflicts also seen in the debates on Iraq constitution cannot be solved without an equal and democratic relations leaning on the voluntary unity of the people in Middle East and on the basis of self-determination right. And this is not a job that can be realized under the leadership of collaborator leaders who dared for all misfortunes in order to get something from the USA imperialism under the shadow of imperialism's bloody paws and on the edge of occupant gun barrels. Here downs great roles upon all communist, revolutionary and progressive forces of the world on the issue of organising concrete and practical support of the people of the region and the world for the Iraqi resistance, and of fellowship in resistance.
