At 6 November, a banner of hope, determination and being sure of victory was unfurled with youthful energy in the streets of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan. The 6 November, the day of foundation of YÖK (Institution of Higher Education), is a day of action in Turkey where the pupils and students all over the country are demonstrating for abolition of YÖK, against the privatisation of education, against isolation, imperialist war and occupation. This year, the young communists made 6 November a real day of struggle against the fascist regime, made it a manifestation of the forces of revolution and of socialism: With banners, writings at the walls, leaflets and mass agitation the young communists announced, that the KGÖ (Communist Youth Organisation) hold its 3rd Congress from 20-27 October 2003. They have lit a bright light at the streets and squares and pushed fascism one step more back into the darkness.

The KGÖ carries the struggle of MLCP against imperialism, capitalism and fascism determinately at the front of the youth. The KGÖ is playing an important role within the youth movement in Turkey, it fights determinately and with a militant line against YÖK and YEK at schools and universities, against the imperialist war and occupation, it supports the demands and actions of the working class against privatisation and other attacks, it is fighting against the sexual and social oppression of women and organizes the fight of the youth against the fascist colonialist dictatorship. The KGÖ is the youth organization of MLCP; it is independent in terms of organization and ideologically and politically under the red banner of the party. The Communist Youth Organisation is a means of the party for politicization, education and winning of the youth fort the revolutionary struggle and it fulfils its task honourably. With holding its 3rd Congress, KGÖ is entering its 10th year of struggle and prepares itself for coming fights and victories.

The 3rd Congress, which was hold successfully under the difficult conditions of strictest illegality with lively and instructive discussions and important decisions, was opened and concluded by singing the International. With its perspectives and determination, the 3rd Congress represents a new level of understanding the problems and the potential of solving them, it represents the highest level of the nine-year political and organizational experience and the knowledge accumulated. During the 20 sessions, amongst other things, an evaluation of the political and organizational work of the past 3 years was made on the basis of revolutionary criticism and self-criticism, and lessons from the positive and negative experiences have been learnt with courage and determination. In the context of the discussion about the report of the Central Committee of the KGÖ, amongst other things, the following topics have been discussed broadly: "The international movement of pupils and students", "The school and university youth and basic questions", "the progressive, antifascist, revolutionary youth movement". Furthermore, our youth activities in Northern Kurdistan and Europe have been discussed on the basis of reports submitted by the local KGÖ forces. The whole Congress was an expression of the power of collective will, collective discipline and action. It was an illustrative example of putting into practice the socialist democracy, the constant and unshakable unity with revolution, the martyrs, the working class and the peoples.

The 3rd Congress issued the strong and determinant perspective "to become a communist mass organisation and lead the struggle of broadest masses of the youth". In the announcement of the 3rd Congress the KGÖ is calling upon the students, progressive, antifascist and revolutionary youth to increase the own freedom and honour and get organized within the ranks of KGÖ. The call concludes with the slogans.
