The interview of YPJ spokeswoman Nesrin Abdullah on the 27th of January 2018. Against the occupation attack of Turkish state, a great resistance has been giving by the YPJ, the Syrian Democratic Forces, the YPG and the Communists. How do you evaluate this resistance? Daesh, the Nusra Front, al Qaeda and the Free Syrian Army (FSA), as well as the Kurds tied to ENKS (Kurdish organization in the line of Barzani in Rojava) are participating in this attack against the peoples of Syria, against the Arab and Kurdish people in Efrîn. Both from air and the ground they attack with all their strength to besiege Efrîn. Thousands of Turkish soldiers were mobilized to the border with Efrîn. But the YPG, YPJ and MLKP fighters within the Syrian Democratic Forces are fighting back these attacks with all their heart. In a professional way, we are giving the Turkish army heavy blows. Hundreds of occupier soldiers has been killed so far. But the Turkish state is covering up their casualties. They attack civilians. They want to break the will of Efrîn's peoples. They even attack refugees from other regions in Efrîn. But our people defend themselves legitimately and show their will within the principles of self-defense. Just as the women in Kobanê made history, just as women's will in Kobanê was symbolized by Arin Mirkan, Sehid Revana and Sehid Gelhat, the same will in Efrîn has been symbolized by Sehid Zilan and Sehid Neval. The resistance culture within the YPJ is reflected in Efrîn's resistance. In the time of resistance, we have reached a new stage of heroism. The women will continue to expand it. It is obvious that the reactionary states of the region and Russia paved the way for this attack. Despite all these supports, you state that the Turkish state has not moved very far. How do you assess the situation? Although Çavuşoğlu (the Foreign Minister of Turkey) claims that they don't need to 'get permission', Russia was not uninformed about the attack. If Russia did not give the green light, Turkey would not have attacked. The area around Efrîn is under the air control and the radar station of Russia. When the Turkish state attacked, Russia stopped its radar station's work and took its own soldiers out from the region. And although a week has already passed, Russia has still not made a statement. This means that Russia agrees to this attack. Russia, like the Turkish state, is responsible for these massacres. Our people will not forget this and will not accept it. They will reply this by not surrendering. Despite all those heavy attacks, our peoples neither left their cities nor their villages and soil. The YPG, YPJ, MLKP, HPC, Asayiş and Erka Xweparastin within the SDF defend this land together with our peoples. They have all taken their positions in the war. Starting with Russia, all the Sochi meetings they organize by saying "we will solve the problems in Syria" are based on lies. With these meetings they want to delude peoples of Syria. If they really wanted to solve the problems, they would never have agreed to an attack by Turkey. Turkey's attack itself is against to a solution of the problems in Syria, it is directed against peace. For their own interests, they aggravate the crisis. The peoples of Syria are murdered, their land is occupied. But it is not a matter for them to give up their own interests. How do you evaluate Erdoğan's "You will leave Efrîn one way or another!" statement? Erdoğan's statement make you really laugh. Even a child would not even make such a statement. Who would dare to say "this land is not yours" to those living on this land for thousands of years. This is not logical at all. Erdoğan looks like Pinoccio. These peoples have been living here for thousands of years. Secondly, Efrîn has never closed its doors to refugee people. 250,000 migrants are living in Efrîn. The peoples of Efrîn divided their bread into two; half for the refugees, the other for the children. Unfortunately, Erdoğan has murdered refugees. In a bombing, a family from Idlib lost 7 of its relatives. To whom does Erdoğan tell such stories? Who should believe this? In these massacres, children were murdered. They want to destroy Efrîn and settle other people. How should this situation be assessed from a human rights perspective? The international public, Russia and the US have not taken a stand against these massacres. This means that they are all responsible. Where are those who are talking about democracy, where is these human rights, where is peace? They make meetings in Sochi, Astana and Geneva. They are all lies to fool the peoples. That's the only assessment which can be made. Do you think that the resistance of Efrîn resembles of Kobanê? First of all, I would like to congratulate all peoples and all humanity in the third year of the liberation of Kobanê. The resistance in Kobanê has really become a symbol. Both the resistance of women and peoples was significant. The forces that supported Isis in Kobanê are the supporters of Turkish occupiers in Efrîn today. Just as we destroyed them in Kobanê, we will destroy them all in Efrîn as well. In Efrîn, we will carry out 'the resistance of our time' with an incomparable and great struggle and resistance. Freedom for us lies in resistance, in the spirit of freedom, in the idea of freedom. We will not allow any force to occupy our freedom. If we do not want our land to be occupied, our peoples captured, then we will defend our freedom. We as YPG, YPJ and SDF, stand up for our word that we promised to our people since Rojava revolution until today. We will continue being the organized and sacrificing forces of our people. For 7 days, the enemy attacks with all his strength. But for 7 days, they are experiencing defeats. For our freedom and the freedom of our peoples, we will give our lives. "Either we live free or we live free". We are bound by this slogan. We say it openly and clearly to the Turkish state: Arin comes from Kobanê, just like Rewan. Today it is Newal and Zilan who come from Efrîn, home of Slawa and Berivan. What is your call to the peoples of the world? All peoples must oppose the occupation of Efrîn to fulfill their duty as humans. We call on international forces, the United Nations, democratic communities and human rights organizations to fulfill their tasks. Human rights observers should come and see on the ground how the occupant Turkish state massacres the people. They are to defend the people of Efrîn. Once again I want to emphasize that as YPJ, we have fought sacrificially from the first day of the revolution until today. Even more we will do in Efrîn. Today, hundreds of old and young women are standing in Efrîn. They say, "You can not throw us down, we'll turn into bombs and explode." The YPJ will fulfill its promise to its people and leadership.
