The power under the presidency of AKP 's (Justice and Development Party) Tayyip Erdogan, saying "I am obliged to market my country", at last sold the Turkish Telecom. The AKP government, which put up for sale the entire country and bragged with their service to the capital, had offered for sale the State-owned Enterprises. The selling of Telecom that was on the target of privatisation for many years had been prevented through workers' struggle. However, an agreement concerning the selling of 55% share of the Turkish Telecom have been signed on the 14th of November. The workers, who decide to stop working for indefinite period because of that decision, start gathering in front of the Gayrettepe Telecom Headquarters on the 15th of November.
The police could not tolerate the workers' strike and tried to disperse them first by setting a barricade and later by an attack. But workers resisted to the police attack and did not take a step back. A group of workers, who got angry due to the injured colleagues by police gas bombs and truncheons and by detention of 9 people, including some unionists, occupied the Telecom. The Turk-Is (a trade union confederation) 1st Regional Chair helped the police whom were in the position of insolvency before the workers' commitment. Unionist director of Turk-Is succeeded in backing down workers from the occupation. Thus a traitor unionist succeeded what the police were not with gas, truncheon and barricade, and made workers to start their work again.
The unions Tekstil-Sen and Limter-Is announced that they support the Telecom workers and called to grow their struggle against the privatisation and to develop the class solidarity.
