The Kurdish serhildan s, which began in Diyarbakir, the resistance centre of Northern Kurdistan (Turkish Kurdistan), have continued by spreading to Kurdish cities such as Batman, Yüksekova, Hakkari, Kiziltepe, Ergani, Cizre, and Nusaybin.
In Turkey, the demonstrations under the title "Shoulder to shoulder with the Diyarbakir serhildan" increase and generalize in big cities such as Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara, Izmit with the participation of PKK , ESP and various political parties and organizations.
Ten thousand Kurds gathered in Diyarbakir in the funeral of Bülent Tanisi, Muzaffer Pehlivan, Fatih Cetin and Mahmut Güler, four of the 14 guerrillas who were killed with chemical weapons in Mus by the fascist Turkish army forces.
The colonialist Turkish army and police, that could not stand the slogans "Kurdistan will be a grave for fascism", "Guerrilla is fighting, to establish Kurdistan", attacked the masses and opened fire. They threatened the masses by the war-planes flying near to ground. 13 people including children were killed in these attacks.
Some of them were the 3 years old Fatih Tekin in Batman, 9 years old Abdullah Duran and another child of 12 years in Diyarbakir. Small shop owner closed up their shops during the resistance days. The Funeral of every single Kurd who is killed by the state causes new serhildans , big clashes and resistance to arise. More than 200 Kurd were wounded in the clashes. Hundreds were arrested or sent to prison.
But how things came to this process? Why did Diyarbakir break out?
The colonialist fascist Turkish regime has achieved the unity of will again on the policies of denial and annihilation after a process of contradictions, vacillations and difficulties in which it had entered on the basis of the regional developments in the Middle East and the cease-fire of the PKK. This policy was recently announced to the public opinion by the counter-guerrilla general Yasar Buyukanit who is seen as the future chief of the General Staff. And again, 22 generals with the same general as their chief went to Diyarbakir and planned the realization of the concept of offence. And today, this plan of offence has been tried to be realized in Kurdistan in the form of dirty war policies without any rules.
On 21 March 2006, which is Newroz2, the revival day for the Kurds, more than two million Kurds filled the streets and set the fires of resistance and freedom in Kurdistan. They expressed their democratic and national demands. They cried out the brotherhood of the peoples and the equality of the nations. They gave the message that they stand for a dignified and democratic peace. But the Turkish bourgeois state continued chauvinism and lynch attempts on the basis of its concept of offence with its counter-organizations, its official and civil fascist forces, its gangs of all kinds, its collaborationist media, its custom-made films like "The Valley of the Wolves", its parliament and government.
H. Özkök, the Chief of the General Staff, humiliated the Kurds calling them "so-called citizens" and the Prime Minister T. Erdogan by saying "The witness of the people of the region is unacceptable". The deputies of DEP (Party of Democracy), who were elected by the Kurdish people in the 90s, were expulsed from the parliament by the police and each received nearly 10 years of sentence to prison for the reason that they had given the oath in Kurdish language. The national values, symbols and the leaders of the Kurds were attacked.
Today, the Mayors who were elected by high rates and the members of DTP (Party of Democratic Society) receive insults mixed with threats. They are being investigated and arrested. The Turkish army, parties and media have been continuing the enmity towards Kurds in a total manner.
On the 31st of March, the Prime Minister T. Erdogan has threatened the people and given the order of an offence to the militarist forces by saying "Our security forces will realise the necessary intervention to those who have been the tools of terror, even if they are children or women. As a response to this, the Kurdish people cry out the slogan "PKK is the people, the people is here!".
A. Ocalan, the leader of PKK, whom the Kurds call their "political will", is under special conditions of isolation in the Imrali Prison. His lawyer and relatives are prevented to visit him and speak with him in Kurdish language.
The degeneration caused by the process of the dirty and dark war has developed a tendency and a culture of "generalization of gangs" in the Turkish society at a considerable level. Chauvinism has poisoned the Turkish working class and the labouring people at a considerable level.
Different kinds and phenomena of the generalization of the gangs have been produced in economic, social, political spheres, in culture, art, militarism and bureaucracy. Soldiers, policemen, bureaucrats, members of the fascist and the reactionary parties have been found in all the gangs without any exclusion. Fascist countergangs have continued drugs-trade and exaction activities together. Organization of the gangs in the schools has been made a preparation process for the job of getting rich by the easy way such as drugs-trade and prostitution.
Pan-Turkish lynch-gangs organized attacks at the Kurdish patriots, revolutionary and communist militants and their activities by the support of the police and the bourgeois media. The lumpen sectors of the society, poor and orphan youth who live in the streets were promoted to snatch-and steal gangs by the collaboration of the state's police and the militarist forces. And they made the atrocious propaganda that these snatchand steal gangs were organized by PKK.
The fascist state promotes the pan-Turkish and counter-gangs which it uses against the Kurdish people and the revolutionary activities, it creates an area for them, and it does not judge or arrest them. By this way, these gangs stands against the revolutionary movement and the struggle of the Kurdish people on one hand, and on the other hand, the mobilization of the working class and the labourers in Turkey on the basis of their own interests of class is blocked by religious, chauvinist and nationalist reaction.
The Kurdish people experienced very well the fascist state's dirty and dark policy based on denial and annihilation, when it protected the counter-gangs which they had caught red-handed in Semdinli . Yasar Buyukanit, who was one of the "our boys" of the USA during the process of the military coup in 1980, tried to acquit the "good boys of our boys", which are the counter-guerrilla petty officers, members of JITEM . This was not enough for them. Y. Buyukanit, who was claimed as guilty by the attorney of Van, was left outside the juridical process. This was again not enough for them. The generals of the Turkish army dictated the islamist government to depose some bureaucrats, and to re-arrange TMY (Anti-terror Code) against the Kurdish people and the revolutionary movement in accordance with the demands of the soldiers and police.
As a result of this, Ferhat Sarikaya, attorney of Van was investigated and deposed. Sabri Uzun, the Chief of the Intelligence Service of the Police was deposed after he made a declaration about the counter-activities of JITEM in Kurdistan, to the commission of the Turkish bourgeois congress.
The Turkish government, who imprisoned A. Ocalan, the PKK leader by a conspiracy of the US and EU imperialists after giving some political and economical concessions to them, was not able to eliminate the Kurdish national struggle. Today, it wants the US army to disarm the PKK guerrilla forces in South Kurdistan (Iraqi Kurdistan). It has been seen in the past 20 years that the Turkish colonialism, who says that it has the biggest army of the Middle East and who markets this "strong army", is helpless before the Kurdish people and guerrilla. And now again, its insisting on dirty, dark and unlimited violence and terror only deepens the resistance, uprising and the struggle of the Kurdish nation.
The serhildans in Semdinli and Diyarbakir point out a new curve in the Kurdish national struggle. Now the uprising and the resistance of the popular masses has become a part of national democratic struggle in Northern Kurdistan. The guerrilla war has united with the serhildans. Every funeral of the guerrillas will be a reason for a new serhildan.
The Kurdish people are pressurizing the reformist leadership of PKK. This is why the colonialist regime does not leave any alternative for the Kurdish people but revolutionary force and mass violence. The Kurdish people understand and feel that the emancipation passes from the popular revolutionary solution. And they show that they have the dynamics and forces to give this struggle with a great courage and decisiveness.
The failure of the denial and annihilation policies of the colonialist regime is verified once more. The Kurdish people advance their struggle for their national and democratic rights with their national dignity and passion for freedom. They have given the signals of that they will continue this struggle until the downfall or the resolution of the fascist regime and the achievement of the liberation of Kurdistan.
The MLCP participated actively in the serhildans in Diyarbakir and Kurdistan and it called for spreading the serhildans to the big cities and the suburbs of the labouring people of Turkey. It called the Turkish and Kurdish workers and labourers to the barricades and street clashes. It wanted them to respond the counter-revolutionary violence with mass and group violence.
The MLCP forces took place in barricade and street clashes; they targeted the forces and the institutions of the colonialist regime with group and mass violence, during the period of serhildans.
MLCP militants bombed the Military Station of Kücükkoy in Istanbul on the 30th of March. In their declaration they said: "We have responded the massacres of the fascist Turkish army in Kurdistan by bombing the Military Station of Kücükkoy.
The counterrevolutionary headhunter state exposed its real face, the face of a murderer state, once more by murdering the 14 HBG guerrillas with chemical weapons. The Kurdish people showed determinedly its demands for freedom with its participation at Newroz at this way proved that it won't be silent in face of the denial and annihilation politics. The fascist state, which is nit brave enough to counter this will, proved once more its weakness by opening fire on 10,000 people in the city of Amed (Kurdish name of Diyarbakir).
The militants of the Kurdistan Organization of MLCP blew up the car of a military in 30th March in the district Konak in the city of Antep. In the corresponding declaraion it said: "We blew up the car of a highranked military, member of the colonialist army, in the district of Konak. We promise a free Kurdistan to the 14 HPG guerrillas and to those who gave their live for freedom in the serhildan in Amed. We greet the great serhildans of the population of Amed and the uprisings and other serhildans in Turkey and Kurdistan.
Not one single attack against our people will remain unanswered." The MLCP militias blew up also the branch in Gazi emir of the OYAK Bank in Izmir. In this declaration, they pointed out that they demand account for the 14 guerrillas who were assassinated with chemical weapons in Kurdistan and the 4 martyrs in Amed with this action. On 31st March, the militias of the Kurdistan Organization of MLCP blew up a police station in Malatya.
In their declaration it was said: "on 31st March, we blew up the police station in Malatya as a response to the operations and massacres committed by the colonialist fascist dictatorship in our country Kurdistan. Once more we point out that we demand account for all the attacks and massacres of the bloody murderers of the fascist colonialist power, who siege the mountains and murder the guerrilla, who represent the honour of the people, with chemical weapons, who attacks children and women at the serhildans in Amed and all over Kurdistan and thus carried out a new wave of terror. Our action will go on to target the heads of the fascist occupiers and murderers."
The duty of using this historical and political opportunity stands before the Turkish working class and the revolutionaries. The repression has come to an unbearable point. The Kurdish people do not want to accept humiliation any longer. Go ahead for liberation to the Kurdish nation, for total national resistance and uprising!
[*] Serhildan means intifada, rebellion and uprising in Kurdish.
