The Spanish torturer State exposed once more it's real face: while it is speaking of "peace", of the "end of violence" and the possibility to start negotiations it is detaining, torturing and imprisoning the communists. We strongly condemn the new wave of repression launched against the Spanish comrades.

In the early morning of 9th June, three militants of the Communist Party of Spain (reconstructed) (PCE (r)) were detained in the Catalan city of Reus under use of brutal violence and a big contingent of repressive forces. The arrested comrades were brought to Madrid were there are under detention of the Guardia Civil without any contact to the outside. They are accused of being member of the armed organisation GRAPO, a lie often used against the communists whose only "offence" consists in "illegal political association". They try to negate that the PCE (r) is a communist and revolutionary workers` Party which did not undertake armed struggle neither yesterday nor today during their history of 38 years. The claim that the three arrested persons are members of the GRAPO is exactly the same lie like the one that they were involved into military actions. Butt he bourgeoisie needs such lies in order to justify the arrest and torture of the three in the public opinion as fight against "violence of armed terrorism".

The three Spanish comrades are Arantza Díaz Villar, 35 years old from the Basque country, Juan Garcia Martín, 52 years old, from Sevilla and Carmen Cayetano Navarro, 52 years old from Vigo. Comrade Arantza was working with the women organisations "Pipi", with the free radio "Hala Bedi Irratia" and in the internationalist solidarity movement with Chiapas and Turkey. Comrade Juan already has been in prison for 20 years, where he was brutally tortured. After having served his sentence he passed again to the underground work in 2000. He is a member of the Central Committee of the PCE (r). Comrade Carmen was also 20 years in prison and brutally tortured there. She as well is a member of Central Committee and passed again to underground work in 2000.

The practices of torture of the Spanish State are well known. Only a few months ago they broke the nose, one finger and several other bones of one militant of the PCE (r) and pumped him up with drugs under detention. We are worried about the health and life of the Spanish comrades and in the spirit of the proletarian internationalism we are calling upon all revolutionaries of the world to express their solidarity with the PCE (r) and it's political prisoners.

There are also some protests against this practices of the Spanish State like the information assembly which took place the 10th June in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country), where 120 people protested against the detention of the three communists and informed about the new wave of attack against the PCE (r) and the resistance movement.

We call upon all progressive, antifascist, revolutionary and communist forces to organise such acts of solidarity in their own countries to support the comrades in Spain.

Freedom for Arantza, Juan and Carmen!

Torture and repression cannot break us - long live international solidarity!

Long live revolution, long live socialism!
