The prisoner of the PCE(r), comrade Josefina García Aramburu is still illegally held in prison by the Spanish state.

Comrade Josefina was imprisoned 20 years by the Spanish state because of her activity for the GRAPO and brutally tortured. After being released she started to work underground as a militant of the PCE (r) and thus continued her fight for Freedom and socialism. In 2002, she was detained in Paris and also tried in France. After having completed the sentence, Josefina was illegally extradited to Spain. There, she is now imprisoned for allegations which she has already completed.

Comrade Josefina was brought from the prison Alcalá-Meco to the hospital 1 de octubre in Madrid after she suffered three heart attacks one after the other. In spite of that, she is still imprisoned, even if there is no open trial against her existing and in spite of not receiving the necessary medical treatment there.

Comrade Josefina has passed more than 24 years in prisons and because of the bad condition in prison, the torture and maltreatment and resulting from the hunger strikes, her health condition is alarmingly bad.

The death of comrade Josefina, a communist and fighter for freedom and socialism, who offered resistance for 24 years in the prisons of the Spanish and French States would not only be a great loss for the comrades of the PCE (r), the working class and the peoples in Spain, but for all the progressive, revolutionary and communist forces of the world.

Therefore we call upon all the progressive, revolutionary and communist forces to strengthen the demand and struggle for the freedom of Josefina García Aramburu.
