On the 90 anniversary of the October Revolution, the peoples of Oaxaca gave the experience of a commune, which is going on for 6 months now, as a present to the struggle of the workers and laborers of the world.
The strike, which started on May 22 with the demands of economical character of the teachers, grew after the bloody attacks by the repression forces of the federal state of Oaxaca on June 14, gained the support of the workers laborers, students, poor peasants and indigenous peoples and was converted into a big uprising after the demand of the dismissal of the govern Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.
The Peoples Assembly of Oaxaca (APPO), founded by the workers and laborers of Oaxaca in order to grow the uprising, turned within a very short time into a people's power.
The movement, which lived an increase of consciousness after each attack of the Mexican state, is going on in spite of massacres, detentions, kidnappings, forced disappearances, torture and sexual assaults. The peoples of Oaxaca, organized in the APPO, are offering a heroic resistance.
In Mexico, which was faced with ballot rigging by help of the USA and the imposition by force of their presidential candidate during the last months, a movement participated by millions of people raised against the ballot rigging and the pressure of the USA. Although this movement developed around the candidate for presidency Obrador, from the bourgeois Party PRD, who lost elections, it went beyond Obrador and mobilized the masses for the struggle against the attacks, the bloodbath and the swindling of the Mexican bourgeoisie.
In Mexico, that is shaken by the Zapatistas in Chiapas, in the south, the commune of Oaxaca and the struggle against the ballot rigging in the capital, where the uprising of the working class, the laborers and the indigenous peoples against the politics of ruin, oppression and barbarity, of corruption, poverty and hunger of the Mexican bourgeoisie, which is completely dependent on the USA goes on, where the people does not accept the representatives of the ruling class and announces in the streets its own representatives, its own government, where the Mexican bourgeoisie is not able any more to satisfy even the minimum of the needs of the people and fell into a political crisis, a revolutionary situation came up.
The people of Oaxaca, who leads this great battle by increasing its demands and degree of organization, has 20 martyrs, hundreds of injured, dozens of disappeared people and 105 prisoners until now.
The Commune of Oaxaca opens new horizons for the proletariat and the peoples of Latin America and the world, in the first years of the 21 century, which is the time of uprisings; it gave them as a present a great struggle experience and became the best example of the responses of the last 15 years given through the wave of resistances and the worldwide struggle against the propaganda of the bourgeoisie like "the end of history has come, socialism is dead".
The commune of Oaxaca is face to face to new attacks and bloodbaths. But nevertheless, the resistance did not retrograde in its determinacy. The power of the peoples moves forward by increasing the number of barricades and occupied buildings of the government day by day. One of the indirect main allies of the Commune of Oaxaca are the peoples of the world and the international solidarity of the working class.
Today, all the progressive, revolutionary and communist parties and organizations are face to face with the international duty to increase the solidarity with the Commune of Oaxaca, to defend this post of resistance being at the top by means of quality against the imperialist-capitalist system.
Another duty we are confronted with is to learn from the Commune of Oaxaca, to analyze, to draw conclusions and to spread them all over the world.
The Commune of Oaxaca is the heritage of the October Revolution smiling towards the future.
The struggle of the peoples of Oaxaca is our struggle!
