The polarization between the Turkish army and the governing AKP , developing around the presidential elections and moving towards a regime crisis, stopped after the current parliament was not fulfilling its function any more and the army took the initiative. Following that; the parliament had to decide for early elections on July 22, 2007. After this decision, the army put effort into forcing the bourgeois parties that appear as right and „left" wing to re-organise themselves in the line of DYP -ANAP and CHP - DSP on the one hand, and strengthening the CHP before joining the elections and therefore limiting the power of the AKP. On the other hand, it continues with all its effort to hinder the representatives of the Kurdish people and the revolutionary democratic forces joining parliament. The election system contains the paragraph of the %10 threshold throughout Turkey and Northern Kurdistan to hold the representatives of the Kurdish people and revolutionary and democratic groups away from parliament. In the past, the Turkish bourgeois state managed to hinder the representatives of the Kurdish people who had gained 2 million votes away from parliament. The DTP (Party for a Democratic Society), one of the political representatives of the Kurdish people, decided to participate in the elections with independent candidates instead of their party because of the 10% threshold. Following that, the Turkish bourgeois state together with its army, government and opposition undertook steps to exclude these independent candidates and revolutionary and democratic forces. One of the first steps was the decision that the names of the independent candidates will be written on the common ballot*. Other steps were the exclusion of those who had been sentenced by a court and indicted before from the election, arrests and oppression and the announcement of, in fact, the „state of emergency" in some regions in Northern Kurdistan. The anti-fascist, anti-chauvinist front created by the revolutionary, democratic opposition and the Kurdish national movement before the elections against the military fascist front, lead by the army, and the Islamic AKP was saluted by broad masses in the beginning after early elections were decided. With the signatures of ten thousands of people lead by the intellectuals, there was a call made for the formation of the „Block of independent candidates" as a third front at mass meetings in bigger cities. However, when some forces used the period of forming a front just with the aim to enter parliament, and for that reason excluded the communists and socialists based on their tactics and plans on the election, it was not able to create a united move concerning the elections. The communists have declared that such a front could in fact only be created on the streets. The communists emphasize that in such a period, in which the fascist dictatorship calls upon millions to march on the streets in order to oppress the Kurdish nation and the revolutionary forces and tries to organize the masses with street actions on the basis of chauvinism, crucial clashes will not be experienced at the ballot boxes but on the streets. They say that for progressive, revolutionary and communists forces to win the election period around July 22 means to conquer the streets and the development of the militant mass movement against the chauvinist provocations of the dictatorship. The Socialist Platform of the Oppressed ( ESP ), one of the basic forces of the period of building a front, decided to organize the period of elections by nominating its independent socialist candidates because of the developments mentioned above. Election offices were opened in those cities where independent socialist candidates participate in the elections. With the aim to defend the Kurdish people and develop the fraternity against the oppression, chauvinist propaganda and racist lynching attempts lead by the fascist dictatorship to exclude the candidates of the Kurdish people, the ESP also decided to support the DTP in Kurdistan instead of nominating own candidates. The communists act with the perspective to use the election period, which is a period when the masses show more interest in politics, as much as possible for the revolutionary work: During their elections campaign, the communists will demand the equality of the people against racism and nationalism; the freedom of speech, action and organisation of the working class and the labourers; the formation of the united people's resistance against the neoliberal attacks which make the working class and labourer masses face hunger, unemployment and poverty; the end of the dependence on imperialism; the cut of relations with all imperialist organisations such the IMF, WB, NATO and EU and the cancellation of all foreign debts. During that period, the communists will also raise their slogans for freedom, equality for the people, revolution and socialism in the suburbs and workers' areas and will reach millions of workers and labourers and increase their hope for a world without exploitation and oppression. They organise the election period with plans and programs and with the spirit of moving towards the masses and enlightening them, giving them the conscious and organize them for the revolution and socialism. By revealing the bourgeois state, its parties, the parliament and the army during their activities concerning the elections, they will try to show the working class and labourer masses that their liberation can only be achieved by turning their back to the bourgeois system and walk towards the revolution and socialism. The election campaign of the communists is lead with the perspective to move the mass they address to towards revolutionary organisation. The election activities also contain the organisation of the mass movement and struggle on the streets against the reactionary civil war plans and attacks of fascism. To summarize; the election campaign of the communists will be lead as following: the only way against capitalism, imperialism, fascism, chauvinism, the putschists and the bosses is the revolution and the only solution is revolution.
