The month of November is considered as the "Month of Martyrs". When the fight for unity led by our party's predecessors in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan led to a success, our party MLCP was founded on September 10, 1994. Communists were active the whole time throughout to announce this historical development named Unity Revolution to the workers and labourers. Not even two months had passed since the foundation of our party when we lost the young communist militant and comrade Erdal Balci. Comrade Erdal Balci was killed by the armed forces of the fascist dictatorship on November 4 when he wanted to hang up a banner on a bridge. While comrade Erdal became immortal as the symbol of collective will and courage, sacrifice and determination as well as of the Unity, the month of November was declared to be the "Month of Martyrs" as our party lost its first martyrs in November.

Our martyrs were the indicator for revolutionary belief and dependence on this struggle.
With their belief in the revolution and their determination, they walked towards death without being afraid and by this, show us they way we have to walk. They taught with their lives and became immortal with their actions. Some of them were murdered on a bridge, some of them were killed by torture, some were hanging up posters in the streets when they were shot, some were leading in the prisons` struggle, and some were killed during a military action. Each of them who left us handed over his/her flag and made our rage increase and strengthened our firmness. New germs sprouted from the seeds planted by them. Neither their physically absence nor prisons and torture could stop our struggle. Our party marches even stronger the way that was started by our martyrs.

As every year, in this year, too, the communists organised a range of actions and activities in the month of November, the month of the martyrs. These included commemorations in the labourer boroughs, writing slogans on the walls, street actions, visiting the martyrs` graves and the families of them. Among the aims of the commemorations were to tell the life of our martyrs to the working class and the labourers and to show that they sacrificed themselves for their liberation. Our party does not only commemorate our own martyrs but all who fell for the revolution and socialism.

The CC of our party published a leaflet on the month of the martyrs. In the leaflet, it said: "To learn from them means to make them to a source of power and inspiration for the solution and overcoming of the problems of our current, periodical, political and organisational activities with which the class struggle confronts us." Our CC calls on the workers and labourers to fight against chauvinism and asks them to stand up against the colonial fascist regime's cross-border plans for expansion and occupation and to to be with the Kurdish people.

We have promised our martyrs to realise the revolution. Commemorating them, learning from them can only be realised by using their thoughts and determination for the struggle to win the masses.
