The Marxist Leninist Communist forces are increasing their actions and activities in many cities of Turkey and Northern Kurdistan for the immediate release of the ESP activists those who have been arrested in Ankara. In our last issue, we already mentioned that 46 ESP people were imprisoned with the allegation of "being member of MLCP" after their detention by the police during the demonstration organised by the ESP (Socialist Platform of the Oppressed) against the isolation and new penal execution code on 7th of December 2004. There were correspondents of the Atilim newspaper among the imprisoned people also.
And, on the 17th of January 2005, 198 members of the Federation of Youth Associations, who wanted to organise a demonstration against the EU in Ankara, were taken into custody, and 6 of them have been imprisoned with the allegation of "being members of DHKP-C".
If we leave the previous numerous detention and imprisonments aside, even only these last two developments have once more revealed not only the fallacy and hypocrisy of "democratization", which is mentioned in connection with the EU-Turkey relations, it has at the same time shown the intolerance of the fascist militarist forces, who considers the actions of the revolutionary forces as dangerous for the political regime and the system, and that they will continue to insist on using the reactionary fascist laws.
They suggest penalties between 12 years to 22.5 years for the people of ESP and the members of the Federation of Youth Associations those who have been sent to F-type prisons. Undoubtedly, all these imprisonments are fully political decisions. Although it doesn't target the domesticated reformist left forces, it is part of the political, ideological and organisational liquidation surrounding against the revolutionary and communist movement.
Since its foundation, ESP has become the voice, representative and vanguard of the working class, labouring women, youth, all the oppressed and Kurdish people through its short but effective action. It has drawn attentions of both the labourers and the counter- revolution through mass agitation and socialist enlightening activities in workers' domains, factories, labouring neighbourhoods and Kurdistan.
Due to its political reflex and vanguard interference in the barricades and street fights against the attacks, and its unifying and inclusion characteristics towards the masses in political struggle, ESP has become one of the first targets of the imperialist forces and the fascist regime. It plays the lighting role on the organisation of the reaction and explosion of anger that has increased among the ranks of the workers and labourers.
ESP tries to develop and increase a revolutionary mass movement in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan. Therefore it come the forefront of the class struggle through developing its political tactics, producing its slogans and calls and developing the tools and methods of the struggle.
ESP has marched militantly on the line of de facto and legitimate struggle by overcoming and forcing the borders that is called as democracy and freedom of demonstration by the fascist regime's in order to create illusion and mainly to open a sphere to reformist and liberal politics. It scared the collaborator monopoly bourgeoisie through its move that is overcoming the statue qua and the attitude of being only a protester, and its propaganda and action displaying the system.
ESP plays evidential roles in encouraging the other apart and inactive revolutionary and progressive political forces and groups to act.
The EU's imperialist forces and the collaborator Turkish bourgeoisie are in full collaboration for the inactivation and liquidation of the revolutionary dynamics, opportunities and forces in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan. It is possible to see these both in massacre of the political prisoners on 19 December 2000 and the ongoing annihilation and denial politics on the national and democratic rights of the Kurdish nation.
But, Turkey and Northern Kurdistan has got a socio-economical structure which is full of political, social, national and economic contradictions that cannot be passed over by so-called reforms and liberal wordings. And it witnesses the revolutionary history, values and traditions. Under these objective and subjective conditions, the revolutionary and communist movement will produce itself again and again.
The trial of the ESP activists is going to take place on 11 March 2005 in Ankara. We call on all revolutionary and communist parties, groups and individuals to support ESP activists and to be in solidarity with them.
Freedom for the 46 ESP Activists!
Long Live Revolution, Long Live Socialism!
