At present, the Palestinian people experience one of the hardest embargoes of the last years. Beginning with Hamas becoming the government and continuing with the division into West bank and Gaza, or Fatah and Hamas, the imperialist Zionist aggression has reached its peak. Taking into account the present situation, we can say that the Palestinian people are confronted with the biggest attack and erosion in their history. The aim of both the attack and the erosion consists in liquidating the history of struggle of Palestine and to erase it especially at international level. Even if the whole Palestinian people are partly affected by this situation, the attack is directed especially against the 1,5 million people in the dead end of Gaza. Israel, which holds all the valves of life in its hands, including the entire Palestine, stops everything in the context of the embargo. Service of all needs like electricity, fuel, health, staple food etc is interrupted. In fact the service of those things needed reached a level of smuggling reminding movies. This situation turns more and more into a silent and slow genocide of the 1,5 people in the dead end of Gaza by Israel, the imperialist powers and also the collaborating Arab countries (first of all Egypt). Dozens of people died and still are starving and hundreds are dying because of the lack of medicine in the hospitals.
Despite the inculcations to give up founding new residential zones, Israel accelerated to grow the number of residential areas in all places except Gaza during this period. Moreover, as a new situation and because of the settlers, the agricultural land of the Palestinians, who have been in a difficult situation anyway, became a target. Some were burnt down and at some, the people were chased away for safety reasons. Israel evades the objections coming from the imperialist masters concerning this situation as "not a state policy but as a tension between the settlers and the Palestinians". While this face represents the intenseness of the attacks, its other face is shining towards the erosion. As to be remembered, the division of Gaza-West Bank or Hamas-Fatah is splitting the Palestinian land on the one hand, it divided a part of the Palestinian people on the other hand. The imperialist Zionist intervention on this splitting brought together the erosion. Although the clashes between Fatah and Hamas are tried to be prevented by other forces such as PFLP, DFLP and Islamic Jihad, this was not achieved and the picture of the "Palestinian people being in clash with each other" was presented to the world. By doing the first step of the erosion, this was evaluated as an opportunity for division by Fatah, Israel and the USA and Palestine was put in a shape that it will be never again as before. Those who are behind Fatah and in the regions ruled by Fatah have been buttered up for some time by the US with its dollars, in return for this Gaza is punished with a genocide. Although the Palestinian people have developed a common attitude and act together against these developments, there is no doubt that they have faced an erosion, this is a clear fact.
By now, it is tried to maintain the erosion. For this reason, the "peace" talks started in 2007 between Israel and Abbas have been presented as talks between Israel and Palestine and the aim is to come to a "conclusion" by the end of 2008. Besides, by re-organising the relations between Hamas and Fatah recently, it is wanted to fortify the imperialist solution to the Palestinian question.
The people of Gaza being oppressed because of the tyranny of Israel and the embargo are also directly experiencing the oppression by the Hamas regime. No matter the fact that the Hamas government had been elected through the support of the Palestinian people, it can be said that it stayed down regarding the "state" governing and the needs of the people. The Palestinians moaning during the embargo were pushed into silence under the Hamas ruling. Hamas has continued its "police state" as a form of governing such as before the division. While today necessary needs of the people in Gaza such as electricity, water, gas, food, medicine are not covered, the people face bans on criticism, actions and expressing their thoughts. These bans are not only for those rivals in favour of Fatah, but also for the 1,5 million people in Gaza. Therefore, it can be said that Gaza being oppressed through the embargo and Hamas are looking for a exit, but because of the wrong line they can't find any.
The blockade by Israel on Gaza is continuing. The division of the Palestinian people and the proposals for support of Fatah by Israel and the USA against Hamas weaken the struggle of the Palestinian people and the struggle led is not strong enough to destroy the blockade.
Although the protesting voices raised within the last months against the blockade abroad have been reflected by the media, they only achieved to put the question again o the agenda. Some initiatives had been started against the blockade, the most important ones were the "ships for freedom to Gaza". Despite the threats of Zionism, the ships were a insisting and decisive action, and fulfilled their role to break the embargo a second time despite the arrests. The march "friends of Palestine" from Egypt which was another initiative against the blockade put Egypt into a difficult situation, made it become active and even achieved to open the borders for some days. However, this remained as such.
Within this whole dead end, the Palestinians who have been clashing for a long time are preparing themselves to gather on November 9 at Egypt. Although before this meeting Hamas announced "we will not acknowledge Abbas from January 8 on", it is clear that in return for doing the elections Abbas will remain another 6 month in office. However, it is also clear that the end of these talks is misty even before they were started. Although Hamas recognises that these talks are the only way to liberation from the blockade, it doesn't want to lose its privileges. For that, it already listed some requests that will make the talks more difficult. Hamas considers itself as the only side of Gaza and Palestine and doesn't want organisations such as the PFLP, DFLP and Islamic Jihad to take part in the talks. It continues with its populist ve monist policy that it applied since it has formed the government. Fatah prepares itself to talk about the collaboration it made despite the Palestinian people. Abbas will propose resignation in return for an end of the embargo. He will announce "peace" without making public the secret talks and negotiations he has made until now.
The Palestinian people are experiencing one of the biggest attacks in their history and are at a watershed, this is the situation right now. The ambition of Abbas for collaboration and resignation on the one hand and the populist ambition of Hamas on the other hand have pushed the Palestinian struggle and Palestinian history into a dead end. Having been the real defenders of the Palestinian cause, the revolutionaries and progressive forces that within this period have led an honoured struggle have still not managed to become alternative forces for the Palestinian people. This is the main problem that the real defenders of the Palestinian cause have not managed to solve.
The Palestinian people will of course believe in their own power first to achieve their liberation. After that, they will believe in the solidarity of the working class and labourer people that are the real friends of Palestine. Those, who believe in the imperialist forces or the Islamic states for the liberation of Palestine, will never free Palestine. Although they become weaker, the solidarity actions for the liberation struggle led by Palestine against the Zionist occupation and aggression by paying high prices still continue in many countries of the world. It is a current as well as historical duty to develop international solidarity with the struggle for the freedom of Palestine.
Our party continues to follow the line of consistence in terms of carrying out its duties of international solidarity with the Palestinian people, its consciousness and actions. The main point of this struggle is to develop interest and solidarity of the working class and the labourers in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan with the Palestinian struggle and cause.
