25 March 2009 /International Bureau / Statement No: 43
On March 21 we unfortunately received the sad news on the loss of comrade Jose Ortin Martinez who was called "Rafa" and who has been a antifascist militant for years and a fighter of the PCE (r) (Communist Party of Spain (reconstructed) and GRAPO (1st October Antifascist Resistance Groups). However, in this tough class struggle there is no place for grief and this is why we are turning our pain into energy to strengthen our international struggle for a world without oppression and exploitation. The exemplary struggle of comrade Jose Ortin Martinez' struggle is enlightening our way. Despite the 25 years of imprisonment at the bourgeoisie's dungeons, the brutal torture and isolation for many years, his will could not be broken. In the contrary, this communist militant coming from a proletarian quarter in Madrid has always defended his ideals and carried out his revolutionary struggle. He started to fight in the ranks of PCE(r) in 1975 and continued with his struggle amongst others with more than 10 hunger strikes of whom some lasted for a couple of months, and also when being behind bars. Comrade Jose Ortin fell in prison, but his mind was always free. The class enemies can only imprison our bodies, but they can never stop our thoughts. Neither the prisons nor death could stop the storm of revolution coming closer every day. Comrade Jose Ortin Martinez is immortal! Freedom to the revolutionary prisoners! Long live the revolution, long live socialism!
