The Kurdish people raised 4 fundamental demands in Newroz: democratic autonomy against non-status, education in the mother tongue, constitutional garantee for the Kurdish identity and the right to assotiation. By defending PKK , the leader of PKK A. Ocalan and the guerrilla forces, they put in vain the tactics of the AKP government such as creating its own collaborationist Kurds and pretending to develop so-called solution policies through them, sieging BDP and forcing it to put a distance between itself and the PKK.

This year the Turkish colonialist fascist state banned 121 of the 127 Newroz rallies organised by the BDP in several cities and districts and by deploying police and military troops, gas bombs, arrest, imprisonment and killings, it tried to hinder that hundreds of thousands of Kurdish labourers and revolutionary and democratic forces meet at the streets.
However, the Newroz Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in the Capital of Kurdistan Amed with 1 million participation and more than 130 places in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, moreover, in many neighbourhoods, shcools and villafes, in the guerrilla bases in the Kurdish mountains, in the other three parts of Kurdistan and in European and some other world cities. Hindreds of people getting arrested and imprisoned, the killing of BDP district leader Haci Zengin during the clashes in Istanbul and two of the MPs from BDP getting hospitalised due to police violence, let alone being able to intimidate the Kurdish people, who have been resisting for tens of years despite all prohibitions and killings and carried their identity, existence and demands to the agenda of the entire world through this resistance, but on the contrary even further strenthened their fire of struggle. The killing of 15 female guerrilla fighters in Bitlis during the Newroz week and that of the 5 guerrilla fighters in Cudi could not break the enthusiasm of Newroz. Moreover, the Kurdish guerrila forces inflicted casualities for the Turkish state in Cudi and Cukurca, which crowned the Newroz resistance.

The AKP government increased its liquidation policies, which it fed with fake-solution maneuvres such as the "Kurdish Initiative" and the "Oslo Negotiations", after the general elections in June 2011 through political operations that expose a daily average of 40 people to arrest and imprisonment and through uninterrupted military operations against the guerrilla forces as well as civil massacres such as the one in Roboski. However, that failed in face of the Newroz revolt. The Newroz of 2012 has been a date when the Kurdish people announced its will. KCK made an evaluation and stressed that the people of Kurdistan has started a new process together with the Newroz 2010 celebrations. The co-presidents of BDP and DTK made a meeting and ecpressed that the Kurdish people has defined their interlocutors in Newroz and said: "From now on all the responsibility falls upon the AKP power. The interlocutors are clear. First actor is Esteemed Ocalan. Non of us will accept a slution which excludes Esteemed Ocalan. Qandil and BDP are also interlocutors. The demands of the Kurds are clear, too."
